Grant and his whole family are the kindest people I've ever met. Just good people. My views on this world may be different than most, but I know that Grant made this world a better place and with him being gone, it's all the lesser for it. But another thing I know is he will be remembered by everyone who knew him and in that way will live forever.

May this verse at, Revelation 21:3, 4 bring consolation to your family: “I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’” Please take comfort in this God given promise.

I wanted to tell you a little about Grant from my perspective - he was truly one of a kind. I wasn't exactly the "cool kid" growing up and it never mattered to him. He was always very kind (and a bit mischievous) and didn't treat me as though he was embarrassed to talk to me. He befriended everyone and never acted like someone he wasn't. We had so many fun times in ag/FFA together his senior (my junior) year of high school, that last state FFA convention was my favorite....he always ended up playing a prank on us girls that we never saw coming!
To Scott and Nonie - thank you for raising such a wonderful person. Thank you for teaching him to be kind and generous to everyone; thank you for teaching him to be confident with who he was; and thank you for allowing him to be goofy and fun-loving....he truly made high school a better place for me (and I think everyone else as well). You must be incredibly proud.
I wish time hadn't passed so quickly and I wish I had spent more time with Grant over the last few years. I wish I had let him know how much of a difference he made in my life without even realizing he was doing it. For now, I will wait for the day I see him again. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and will keep you all in my prayers.

That smile of his will never be forgotten...!! I don’t remember a time Grant didn’t have a smile! I always admired how close Grant was with all of his sisters and brother... they had a bond that will last forever! He was a very proud BIG brother!
Grandpa was telling us all a couple weeks ago how “sharp” Grant and Dylan looked in their suits. He said “those two boys sure do clean up real good and look real sharp in their suits” Grant sure was proud of that suit and course had a smile on his face whenever he wore it no matter the circumstances!
Heaven gained another angel... fly high Grant!

Your smile was always infectious;
the twinkle in your eye always meant you were up to something;
Your giggle meant you had pulled off a joke.
I love you and will miss you! You will have a lot of company in heaven. Aunt Regina

My heart is broken. I will miss him. He was knowledgeable beyond his years. He always figured out a way to make things better, a better way to fix a problem whether it was construction, traveling anything we were doing. I will miss his hugs.

Grant will be sorely missed not only by myself, but by all my brothers and my wife; who all had the privilege to get to know him during our numerous family get-togethers and reunions through the years. He will be in all our hearts and memories. I'm shocked and so saddened by this tragic loss. I'm praying that Grant's parents, and all his siblings and close friends can find some hope and comfort during this time. Love you all and I hope to see you soon.

To Grant's family,
We offer our sincere condolences to all of his family. We were so shocked to hear of Grant's passing. Grant will be remembered as a quiet and kind man helping where ever possible. He was a man you could count on to do his job never having to be babysat, a true leader.
One thing Grant could out do, any Star Buck's with his own coffee he loved it strong . Grant had a deep love for his family never ashamed to speak highly of them, truly a very kind man.
We are never guaranteed today or tomorrow yet we are all so shocked when Jesus calls our loved one home. It is during this time we seek him more and find comfort that he is holding each and every one of you today with his everlasting Love.
Our prayers are for all of you to find His peace.
Sincerely
John & Lynda Altenburg

I am the youngest of five.
Funny how that doesn't change, not until you die that it becomes past
tense. "She was the youngest of five children..." No matter how many of
your siblings leave you, you're still always the youngest of
how-many-ever.
So my mom called me this evening at 5:37 on June 13, she asked if i was
home and i said yes. I assumed she was just calling to see how my job
interview went (spoiler alert, i didn't get the job) But then she said
something I wouldn't have expected my mom to say. It would've been one of
us, one of our jobs. "Grant died." I heard it, I understood it and yet I
responded questioningly "Grant?" His name didn't sound similar to any
extended family so there was no point. I knew what I heard. The phone
call lasted a minute, she had the rest of us to call, the rest of the
family. It's what you do. I was left to break down in the hallway. I
eventually made it to my room. Changed out of normal clothes and put on a
hoodie from a music festival he had bought me.
I kept thinking, I keep thinking that it's a dream. That it's a mistake
or that I will wake up with tears in my eyes and throw the blankets off.
I've had this dream lots. Being the youngest, or maybe i was just a weird
child. But i've always known that my siblings were much older and my
parents. I was exposed to death at a young age. My first memory of
attending a funeral was that of a cousin who had committed suicide, I was
5 or 6.
I keep wanting to ask my sisters if they're sure but I know they are. And
everyone saying "let me know if there is anything I can do," no. there
isn't. Thanks. I get it but stop. just say sorry so i can feel better
about telling you, telling somebody.
It doesn't feel right to say I am the youngest of 5, but it doesn't feel
right not too.
