Obituary of Maria Nieves Sanchez

Maria Nieves Gonzales Sanchez, 77, entered Heaven May 1, 2022. She was born in Los Fresnos Chihuahua, Mexico on August 20, 1944. Maria came to the United States at the age of 18. She lived in North Platte, NE and met the love of her life. She was married to Tomas Sanchez for 54 years. Our hearts take comfort in knowing that they are reunited in heaven. Maria could brighten the darkest of days. She was the type of person who effortlessly made you smile. Her laugh was contagious and her love for Jesus was infinite. She was such a sweet and kind soul. She loved being a mother to her 5 children. Her humor and her favorite “four letter word” will always be remembered. Maria will be greatly missed and her memory will live on forever. If she was here today, she would say it is okay to cry but when the tears surpass, smile and trust in the Lord. Maria is preceded in death by her husband Tomas Sanchez; her two sisters Jovita Pando and Juana Rangel; her brother Martin Gonzales and grandson Mitchell Sanchez. She is survived by her 9 brothers and sisters; daughters Elizabeth (Isidro) Martinez of Amarillo, TX and Josephine Favela of Burlington, CO; sons Eliseo Sanchez, Carlos (Bernadine) Sanchez of Burlington, CO; Tomas Sanchez Jr. (Erika) of Andrews, TX and Ray Sanchez Jr. of Hastings, NE; 23 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 5pm Friday, May 6th at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Hall in Burlington, CO. Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian burial is at 10 am, Saturday May 7th at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Burlington, CO. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, CO.
