Obituary of Melinda Rae Deann Eli

Melinda Rae Deann Eli was born on May 24th, 1991 in Burlington Colorado to her mother Angela Fox and father Wesley. Her family moved to Stratton, CO shortly after where her younger sister LaDonna was born. It was there that she met many of her life-long friends. On April 7th, 1997, the two girls were adopted by Richard Eli. It was one of the best days of all four of their lives. This is where it felt the journey began. She and her sister had one of the most fun loving relationships, mainly because they were complete opposites. Mindy loved to sing, play volleyball with her “mean” serves, and loved spending time with her friends during break times. While she was well known for keeping to herself, those around her loved her bright smile and kind heart. Mindy never gave up on anyone. She wanted everyone around her to be happy and involved, and most importantly she never wanted anyone left behind. She graduated from Hi-Plains High school in 2011 along with her sister and 10 other fellow classmates. She got right down to business getting what she wanted in life. She also spent a few years caring for her grandparents Donna and Bob Fox in Vona, CO. During this time, Mindy married Ronnie Speakman, her best friend of over 16 years. On October 13th 2019, her life changed forever when she became a mother, as she always dreamed to be. She visited her son often which was always the highlight of her day. Mindy was able to overcome many obstacles and addictions in her life with the help of her boyfriend Mackie Davis, “bro” Thomas, sister LaDonna, and the support of many others. She was becoming everything she wanted to be. Mindy had many talents and one of her greatest was working as a nurse assistant. She was working towards certification in medication management that would allow her to work in a nursing home in Thornton, CO. Mindy’s life came to an end way to soon. On April 5th, 2022, she was in an unexpected car accident on her way home from visiting family. May her infectious smile be remembered by all. She lives on within her surviving family members, grandfather Eli, mother Angela Fox (Kelly), father Richard Eli, stepfather Duane O’neill, boyfriend Mackie Davis, son Creed Cox, sister LaDonna Eli, nephews Dwayne Oliver, Gabriel, and Tabias, nieces Aaiyhona, Alyza and Alaysha Oliver and Nelly, aunts Tonya Fox, Elsie Eli, Lynaia Strecker, Pam Brown, Patty Sampson, and April Prierto, uncles Frank Eli, Joe Eli, Jeff Eli, Bobby Brown, and Bobby Hogan, cousins Sierra Fox, Jose Silva, Anthony Barrera, Eric Eli, Michael Eli, Angelo Eli, and many more. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and contributions can be made toward the funeral expenses to Love Funeral Home in Burlington, Co.
