Longtime Bethune, Colorado resident, Consuelo Garcia, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado with her family by her side. She was 72 years old. Consuelo was born January 30, 1949 to Doroteo and Estefanita (Reyna) Sandoval in Nixon, Texas. She was the fourth of seven children born to this union. She grew up and went to school in Nixon, Texas. She and her family came to Burlington, Colorado as migrant workers. They were working here when her brother, Evaristo “Sonny” Sandoval, was killed in action in the Vietnam War in 1967 at the age of 20. The families wishes were he be placed to rest here in the Fairview Cemetery. They then decided to make Burlington, Colorado their home. Consuelo married the love of her life, Felix Garcia Silva, in July of 1979 in Burlington, Colorado. To this union, came four children from a previous marriage, and later they were blessed with their daughter Teresa. She and Felix did everything together, if she was making tamales Felix was doing the dishes. If there was yard work to be done, they were doing it together. After 42 years of marriage they never lost that spark, and were so in love. Felix and Consuelo were inseparable. She was a member of The Light of the World Church in Goodland, Kansas were she was very involved. She had a very strong faith and lived by it daily. She was always involved in church events and she loved a challenge. She was known for her great cooking and was always willing to lend a helping hand at any church fundraiser. Spending time with family was very important to her. She loved to cook and bake for them and was known for feeding half the neighborhood, even as her grandchildren brought their friends to grandma’s for some delicious food. She was always busy doing something and was a hard worker. HER AMAZING SMILE, AND LOVING HEART, WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER!
