Obituary of Fay L. Helderman

Fay Helderman was born September 26, 1936. She learned at an early age about hard work and family. She taught all her children the importance of hard work and family. With seven to ten children to feed hard work was how she did it. Our mom always made sure we had food to eat and a place to live. She taught us to have faith in tomorrow and she sure did love Jesus. She had a laugh that made everyone smile. Times were tough for her growing up, not much money and a lot of hungry brothers and sisters but she did what she could to help out. When she got her own children, I’m sure that helped her on raising us. Fay lost a child early in life, so she always made sure we knew she loved us. Her favorite activities were crocheting for her kids and anyone in need. She made a lot of caps for the children’s hospital and some blankets. She gave so much of not only her time but her knowledge. There’s nothing that she couldn’t learn to do. And our mom loved her flowers, you should’ve have seen her light up at a blooming plant. She could grow anything. Our mom’s cooking was how she mostly was able to make a living for us. She made friends wherever she worked in the public from restaurants, gas station, cleaning houses, being a CNA or dietician at the nursing home or schools. All of our friends called her mom too. She prayed for all of us daily, even though we didn’t always think she did. Our mom was the most forgiving, loving person we’ve ever met, and the good Lord blessed us like he did her, like she says everything is going to be alright. We love you mom. Fay Lay Verne Helderman, 85 of Vona, Colorado passed away on January 2, 2022 at home with family. She is survived by her daughters: Cherry Horton and husband Brian, Audrey Williams and husband Mark and family, Linda Stewart and husband Jimmy and family, Vagola Miller and Casey Pitts and family. Sons: Herman Helderman and wife Debbie and family, Richard Helderman and wife Penny and family, Chuck Helderman and family. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Step children: Charlotte Morrell, Rosalie Montgomery and Bobby Helderman. She is preceded in death by husband Robert H. Helderman, granddaughter Laurie Rogers, grandson Taaron Miller, and grandson Michael Montgomery and son Lesley Eckert.
