Obituary of Delmar Joel Rouse

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Delmar J. Rouse passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at his home in Burlington. He was 85 years old. Delmar was born on February 27, 1936 in Topeka, Kansas to Howard Eldon and Lydia Elizabeth (Riedel) Rouse. He started school in Colby, Kansas and then moved to Burlington, Colorado where he graduated from Burlington High School. After high school he served in the United States Army. On September 11, 1961 he married Joan M. Burian. They resided in Burlington for their 55 years of marriage. They had two children; Dennis Alan and Penny Sue. Delmar was the manager of Western Fertilizer for forty years. He loved to hunt and fish, going to the Sleepy Cat Lodge in Meeker, Colorado to go elk hunting was always a highlight of his year. He got to enjoy fishing in several different places such as Canada and Texoma while on one of his many business trips. When he and his wife finally got to retire they purchased their trailer at the lake in Trenton, Nebraska where they spent lots of time with their friends. He took several trips including Mexico, the Mall of America in Canada, Las Vegas, Hawaii and California with his friends and family. He love to ride his Harley and he rode it on several poker runs. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington. He is survived by his son Dennis (Delores) Rouse and his daughter Penny (David) Worden, 4 grandchildren Kyla (Jeremy) Kizer, Kayle (Sadee) Rico, Nathan (Julia) Rouse, Clayton (Rachael) Rico, and 12 great grandchildren.
