My grandma was an amazing women. She was filled with love, humor, compassion and when the time was needed a little bit of kick ass. I will always cherish every summer with her. We would spend hours watching her favorite telenovelas and cheering on different soccer teams. She always welcomed everyone into her home for a cup of coffee and you better be ready to play some Loteria. Every year on the 4th of July we would try and out due the town’s firework display. On one of those occasions a firework failed and started to back fire. It fell over and every round was heading straight at my grandma. She jumped and ducked faster than any athlete out there. After it was done she said more swear words than a drunken sailor. She pulled out her Salem 100, opened a can of Big Red and told me to keep lighting them. The lady was strong and forgave quickly. I’m am blessed to have you as my grandmother and sure lucky you that you took me back every summer. I love you and know you’ll always be watching over me and my family until we meet again. -Your Grandson Alex
