Obituary of Jon S. Reeverts

Jon Stuart Reeverts was born in Slayton, MN to Daniel and Elizabeth Reeverts on July 7, 1959. He was the youngest of their five children. Jon grew up in New York City, but his senior year he lived with his oldest brother Dean and graduated from Colchester, IL in 1977. He then attended Central College in Pella, IA graduating with a BA in English. He landed his first teaching job in Stratton, CO in 1981. Jon married Jenny Pottorff from Stratton, CO on July 21, 1984 and through this union, they have three wonderful children; Canaan, Keala, and Mackenzie. Jon had the privilege of teaching and coaching at Stratton, Burlington, and Hi-Plains High Schools over the course of 30+ years. In addition to being and educator, Jon and his wife Jenny, started their ministry in Eastern Colorado in 1999 bringing the message of Jesus Christ to kids, teens, and adults. Jon battled cancer the past 12 years before facing complications due to COVID-19. He received his glorious invitation to meet Jesus face to face on March 12, 2021 with his family by his side. Jon was preceded in his passing from this earthly life by his parents Daniel and Elizabeth, his brother Dan, and his sister-in-law Valoree Pottorff and many others that he loved. Those that are still on this earth to carry on what Jon has taught us are his loving wife of 36 years, Jenny Reeverts and their children and grandchildren; son, Canaan and his wife Bekah Reeverts (Claire and Carson); daughter, Keala and her husband Jason Widdifield (Scott and Eli); daughter, Mackenzie and her husband David Núñez, (Oaklyn and her little sister that’s on the way); Jon’s brother Dean and wife Patti; sister Mary and husband Tom Longenecker; and sister Rita Reeverts…. and all of you that he loved so deeply!
