Larry Lee Lamm was born on May 7th, 1942 to Millard (Red) and Betty Lamm in Colorado Springs, Colorado the oldest of two children. Larry departed this life on August 29th, 2020 in Tribune, Kansas. Larry began his life on a small farm just outside of Simla, Colorado. From an early age he was known to be a prankster and a jokester who enjoyed having fun. He attended school in Alta Vista country school where he excelled in basketball and baseball during his high school years all while working on the family farm and milking cows for a small neighboring dairy farm. Upon graduating high school in 1960 he was joyfully united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Mary Dorothy Esarey (better known as Dee) on June 18th, 1960. Larry and Dee began married life in Denver, Colorado where they were blessed with a son Dana and a daughter Kim. In 1962 they moved to a ranch by Colorado Springs, Colorado where they were further blessed in 1963 with their second son Lyn who with his birth completed their family. As part of Larry and Dee loving and giving nature, they participated in the foreign exchange student program, opening their home to 7 different students from all over the world over the years. In 1966 Larry and his family relocated to Salida, Colorado where they made their home for the next decade. During this time, Larry worked in a molybdenum mine in Climax, Colorado. Whenever he wasn’t working in the mine, he could be found teaching his 3 beloved children how to ride horses where they competed in gymkhanas, Little Britches Rodeo and a roping club. It was during this time that Larry and Dee, along with some friends, started a new 4-H club where they were both very active leaders. Larry was also the president of the state horse 4-H council. Larry had a real passion for teaching youth’s horsemanship and riding skills, so he put on several horse-riding clinics in surrounding counties to teach these skills. In 1976 the family moved near Arapahoe, Colorado where Larry worked on the James Ranch until 1980 at which time, they moved to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. Larry worked at the Cheyenne Wells school as the maintenance man until 1985. In 1985, with all their children grown and on their own adventures, Larry and Dee decided it was time to begin a new journey of their own in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Larry became the manager of the Checker Autoparts until his retirement in 2005. After the passing of his beloved wife Dee, Larry decided to move to Sharon Springs, Kansas where he remained until his death on August 29th, 2020 in Tribune Kansas. Larry will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege to know him.
