Obituary of Kenneth L. Thomas

Kenneth Lee Thomas was born January 8, 1936 in Wray, Colorado. He was the son of Harry and Velma Thomas. He had one brother, James Thomas and three sisters, Betty, Lois, and Mary. He went to school at Richary Country School west of Wray, Colorado until they moved then finished northwest of Burlington through the 8th grade. At age 19 he married Lois L. Carter at the 4 Square Church in 1955. To this marriage they had four sons; Kenny D. Thomas, Marvin E. Thomas, David L. Thomas and Terry L. Thomas. He joined the National Guard in 1955 also he was in for nine years until 1964. He was in artillery, medic, cook and a wheel mechanic. From 1955 to about 1960 he worked for various farmers. In 1961 he went to work for Schlosser Ready Mix until 1963. He went to work at Plains Grain Elevator and did some carpentry work also until 1967. He went to work for Caldwell Wester Fertilizer until he retired in 1985 after a fire accident. Kenneth passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, son David Lee Thomas, brother James Thomas and two sisters; Lois Homm and Mary Kimmel. Those left to cherish his memories are his sons; Kenneth Thomas of Burlington, Colorado, Marvin (Francis) Thomas of Kanorado, Kansas, Terry (Sharla) Thomas of Vona, Colorado, grandchildren; Kent Thomas and Liza Fralick, Nicole (Eric) Gamboa, Marvin Thomas Jr., Marshall (Melanie) Thomas, Cappi (Dan Mcconville, great grandchildren; Jade (CJ) Jennings, Chelsa, Rylan, Abigail, Austin, Christopher, Austin, Domonic, and Nicholas, tow step great great grandchildren Dyson and Tara, one great great grandchild, Presley. Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to Kit Carson County Carousel Association or the Bingo Hall and may be sent to them directly to Kit Carson County Carousel Association at PO Box 28, Stratton, Colorado 80836 or to the Bank of Burlington, PO Box 427, Burlington, CO 80807. Private family funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Love Funeral Home in Burlington, Colorado. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Burlington, Colorado.
