Obituary of Cecilia M. Fox

Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Cecilia Marie Fox passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 75 years old. Cecilia Marie Isenbart was born June 21, 1944 to Cecil and Edith (Hart) Isenbart in a house west of Alva, Oklahoma. Cecilia was one of nine children born to this union. The family lived in Alva until August of 1946, when they moved to Stratton, Colorado, to a farm south of town. She attended school in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School in 1962. She met and later married the love of her life Darrell Joseph Fox on June 16, 1962 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton. To this union four children were born: Don, DeAnna, Darren and Heidi. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society. Cecilia was a cook at the Bethune School and McArthur Senior Center for many years. She also cooked at the Burlington and Stratton sale barn. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading, sewing and baking pies in which sometimes she was known to use salt instead of sugar. She also enjoyed going fishing so she could enjoy all the snacks and fried chicken, which she always prepared right before the trip. Spending time with her family was very important to her such as attending any extracurricular event that her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren were involved in. She was always excited to get together with family or friends, and she particularly enjoyed planning “wing dings” as she knew that she would get to visit with people. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard and Leo Isenbart; sisters, Theresa Baylor and Ruth Kimminau; Agnes Isenbart (age 2), Mary Margaret Isenbart (stillborn) and great granddaughter Carson Ely. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 57 years, Darrell Fox of their home in Stratton, Colorado; her sons, Don (Penni) Fox, Darren (Kari) Fox all of Stratton, Colorado; her daughters, DeAnna (W.C.) Ely of Stratton, Colorado, Heidi Walker of Johnstown, Colorado; her grandchildren: Ryan Fox, Sara Sloan, Morgan Kappenman, David Dinkins, Sara Salcedo, J.C. Ely, Cale Ely, Jacs Fox, Eltan Yarger, Kali Fox, Drew Fox, Creed Fox, Taylor Vaughn, McKinze Vaughn, Joshua Walker, Pacey Walker, Peyton Walker; her great grandchildren: Emerson Sloan, Lucas Kappenman, Landry Kappenman, Ariana Salcedo, Xiomara Salcedo, Scarlett Salcedo, Brayden Dinkins and Haley Dinkins; her brother Walt (Angie) Isenbart and sister Sister Mary Cecil Isenbart. Also surviving Cecilia are numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorials may be made to the Kit Carson Cattlewomen's Pink Chaps Fund in Cecilia's memory and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, Burlington, Colorado 80807.
