Obituary of Katholyn "Kathie" F. Meyers

Longtime Bethune, Colorado resident Kathie Meyers passed away on June 26, 2018 at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado after battling a short illness.  She was 75 years old.

Katholyn Fredel Meyers was born on June 18, 1943 to Fred J. and Vivian G. (Ragan) Kiefer.  She was one of six children born to this union.

Kathie as she was known to all who knew her started school at the Emerson School north of Burlington and then went to Burlington schools through the 10^th grade.  She was an active Girl Scout and 4-H member during her youth years. 

She married Vernon Pelser on April 11, 1958 and to this union three children were born: Vernon Jr., Mardy Jo and Lori Ann.  Later on she married Robert Meyers on August 4, 1979 and for the last thirty years she has enjoyed spending time with Leonard Smith.

Kathie worked as a waitress, caregiver and cake decorator. She was always famous for her cakes, cookies, and candy baskets for the holidays. 

Some of her many hobbies were reading romance novels, in her younger years she loved to sew even, sewing Barbie clothes for her daughters.  She was a grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved sharing holidays with her family. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and the Bethune Bobcat Booster Club.  She also enjoyed helping out at the Bethune School preschool playgroup on every Wednesday.  She was the founder of Community Alzheimer’s fundraiser memory walk for 10+ years.

Kathie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  Kathie was a proud mother who had a great love of life and family.

Preceding her in death are her parents; Fred and Vivian, her husband Robert Meyers, brother Garry, grandson Jason and son-in-law Drew Gustafson.

Those left to cherish her memories are Leonard Smith of Bethune, her son Vernon Jr. (Merlene) Pelser of Bethune, her daughters; Mardy Jo (fiancé Steve Criswell) of Burlington, Lori Ann Dickerman of Olathe, Kansas, Deb Howle of Torrington, Wyoming, Robin Smith of South Carolina, step daughter Terisa Carter of Burlington, sisters Virginia Tyrrell of Belton, Missouri, Sheryl (Wayne) Kibbee of Donna, Texas, brothers Terry (Judy) Kiefer of Greeley, Colorado, and Bill (Mary) Kiefer of Burlington.  She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
