Robert "Bob" Martel

Obituary of Robert "Bob" A. Martel

Stratton resident Robert Anthony Martel passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018 at Collier Hospice Care Center in Wheatridge, Colorado.  He was 72 years old.

Bob was born March 6, 1945 in Denver, Colorado. His parents were George & Lena Martel of Ft. Lupton, Colorado. He was one of three children.

As a young teen he enjoyed his small town community. Over the years he shared many stories of good memories of his childhood. He and his brother, Albert played in a band together – Bob being the drummer.

As a young man he enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was with the 5th Special Forces group 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne. Bob took extreme pride in serving his country.

After the war, he returned to Denver. He met his wife Amy (Isenbart) Martel. While working at the Federal Center in Lakewood, CO. They were married for 31 years. Shortly after their union, they moved to California where Bob worked for the VA Police Department in Long Beach. After eight years, he and his family moved back to Colorado where he worked as a police officer for the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. After retirement he made his permanent home in Stratton, CO.

Bob was proud of his family, especially his four children Bobby, Eric, Aletha and Regina. He was never shy about bragging of each one’s accomplishments always getting pictures out to show everyone. If he wasn’t bragging about his family, he was meticulously working on his cars, telling you about his cars, cars he wished he owned or revving up a motorcycle. Bob always enjoyed family gatherings, visits from his friends, cards and complete control over his TV remote.

He is survived by his wife Amy, daughter Regina & Tyson (fiancé) of Denver, son Bobby & Mona (wife) of Denver, son Eric and Tina (wife) of Arvada, daughter Aletha of Denver,  brother Albert & Mona (wife), and sister Annette and Bob (husband).
