Obituary of William Hooper

William Lyle Hooper, age 90 passed away February 7, 2006 in Aurora, Colorado. Lyle was born June 14, 1915 to Walter A. and Lula M. (Wheeler) Hooper in Stratton, Colorado. He attended school and graduated from Stratton High School in 1932. Following high school he moved to Denver where he worked and took several business class at a Business School. On April 17, 1943 Lyle married Gladys E. Hernbloom in Denver Colorado. To this union three children were born. They lived their entire married life in the Aurora, Colorado area. Lyle worked for several years at the Rocky Flats Arsenal before going to work at the Gates Rubber Company. He retired in 1981 following 25 years of faithful employment to the Gates Rubber Company. Lyle enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations. One of his favorite destinations was Canada. He built his own two room cabin in the mountains of Colorado. Lyle was active in helping to establish the water and fire departments of the City of Aurora before it incorporated. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Floyd who died a prisoner of war in World War II, and a half brother Lewis. Lyle is survived by his wife Gladys of Aurora, Colorado. Two sons Ron and wife Joann Hooper of Aurora, Colorado, and Don Hooper of Boulder, Colorado. One daughter Barbara Bilyard of Aurora, Colorado. A granddaughter Jaime and her husband Doug Boss and their children Christian, Derion, and Kylee all of Aurora, Colorado. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle always stated that he wanted to move back to the country and back to his roots in Stratton, Colorado. Therefore a Graveside service will be held Monday, February 13, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton, Colorado with Pastor Dustin officiating.
